Things I Like is the range of products designed and made by me, Leeanne Schneider.
I'm originally from Barbados, but I have lived in Kent for the last 7 years. I live with my little boy, and I like to think I make quite a few things for boys as well as girls.
I'm a fan of the quirky look myself; I don't believe in stamping someone's brand all over myself and my home, or buying into a look to be like everyone else. I guess that's why I like to make things. You could call my designs shabby chic, but they'd also sit quite easily in the "quirky chic" or kitsch category. The influence is less French château, more Bajan chattel house! And that's just the way I like it - a mish mash of the West Indies and the UK, country cottage with extra colour. It's all about bringing a bit of polka dotty cheer into our everyday lives.
This is my latest big project, a 1978 Leyland Sherpa campervan, which I've named Lucy. She's been fitted out as my mobile shop, and you'll see us crossing Kent on our way to and from craft shows. It was definitely hard work clearing the van out, but lots of fun, and slightly bonkers, which suits me just fine!
There's children's clothes and the home range, which includes items such as hand painted wooden tools and beautifully hand quilted cushions.
The online shop stocks items made by my friends as well as new and vintage finds, and now some fantastic items from well known kitchen ware brand Typhoon. Have a look around the site, I'm always adding new items, pictures from craft fairs and general oddities! |
